This TomTom Start 2 ticks all the boxes, and is really easy to use. You can literally turn it on and go. I updated the map system by visiting the Tom Tom website, which was very easy to use, and, of course, free. We needed to rely on the system to get us 160 miles to North Devon, I thought I’d see how the TomTom Start did, and followed its suggestion. Fair play, the suggested route was much easier to drive, and stuck to mainly dual carriageways, rather than the single lane A roads on the route I was thinking of. It got us to our destination absolutely fine.

The name, Start2, implies what you will get. The screen is small, but that can be a plus if you don’t want a large object suspended above your dashboard, or in your pocket.The must-have options are there, such as choosing language, voice, units and so on and it does nice things – like lane guidance, like telling you your speed, and also showing the speed restriction on that road, if known, and speed cameras.
